P2P lending is Asia is larger than any other region in the world with China leading the way. The new form of financing is catching on in India too as the world’s second most populous nation starts lending online.

P2P lending is at an early stage in India but promises to help small and micro enterprises across the country gain access to much-needed capital and funding. As it has shown in other markets, P2P lending can be a blessing and a curse both providing liquidity and potential issues. In China, the market has been troubled with several rather high-profile market failures due to P2P platform mismanagement or neglect, but at the same time, it has brought trillions of RMB to market and put it in the hands of people who need it.

Which direction India’s P2P market goes remains to be seen as it is still a bit too early to tell, but over the course of this report, we hope to provide you with some insight into what some of the potential outcomes are and the direction of the market as a whole.
