Antom’s AI-powered payment solution looks to revolutionize e-commerce
Ant International’s Antom is at the forefront of a significant shift in digital commerce, launching a new agentic payment solution that allows AI agents to facilitate payments directly within a chat or through pre-authorized flows. This move positions Antom as one of the first partners of Mastercard and Visa to explore tokenized card-based payments for AI agents in the Asia Pacific region.
Traditional payment systems were built for human interactions, often requiring multiple clicks and redirects to external applications to complete a purchase. This process creates friction and is not conducive to the multi-run, natural language conversations that define AI agent interactions. Antom’s new solution addresses this by rethinking how payment systems are designed, enabling a secure and streamlined process that fits naturally into the AI-driven customer journey.
The new agentic payment solution is built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open-source framework that standardizes how AI systems integrate with external tools and data sources. This foundation allows for dialogue-based payment flows, where the user’s payment intent can be confirmed within a conversation. The system supports both confirmed purchases and conditional, pre-authorized transactions, such as setting a predefined spending limit or handling scheduled sales.
A cornerstone of the solution is EasySafePay, a feature designed to simplify wallet-based payments. EasySafePay allows users to link their digital wallets directly to the checkout page, eliminating the need for redirects and boosting conversion rates. This is a significant improvement over standard payment flows, which can often lead to cart abandonment.
Given the sensitive nature of financial transactions, security is a top priority for Antom’s new solution. The platform incorporates several advanced security measures, including:
- AI-ready payment mandate model: Ensures precise recognition of user intent and protects transaction security.
- Enhanced payment asset management: Uses cryptographic methods to manage payment assets, providing a high level of security.
- Multi-Party Computation (MPC)-based AI risk management: Leverages advanced security systems to identify and block fraudulent transactions, such as phishing and identity misuse, thereby reducing the risk of account takeovers for digital wallet users.
- Verifiable Credentials: The system creates verifiable credentials that link transaction parameters with intent evidence, ensuring end-to-end traceability and allowing users to maintain control and visibility over how AI agents act. The solution is also compliant with the rules of the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC).
Antom is among the first to partner with Mastercard (via Mastercard Agent Pay) and Visa (via Visa Intelligent Commerce) in the Asia Pacific region to pilot tokenized card-based agentic payments. These partnerships aim to advance AI commerce by creating secure and seamless checkout experiences.
The launch of this agentic payment solution is a foundational step in enabling AI agents to provide real value in everyday life. By combining its deep fintech expertise with trusted AI capabilities and platform-level support, Ant International is helping developers, financial institutions, and merchants confidently embrace AI-driven commerce. This initiative reflects a broader industry trend where the rise of AI necessitates a new approach to payment system design, and Antom is paving the way by co-building the necessary protocols and frameworks with key industry partners.
